Royal Columbian Hospital
Royal Columbian Hospital is the only hospital in the province with cardiac, trauma, neurosciences, high-risk maternity and neonatal intensive care on one site. We look after some of the most seriously ill and injured patients in the province. The Jim Pattison Acute Care Tower, which opened its doors in 2026, is the most significant milestone in our hospital’s redevelopment — a transformative project that almost doubles our capacity and sets a new standard for patient care. This world-class facility features one of Canada’s largest interventional and surgical “Superfloors,” advanced emergency services, and cutting-edge technology designed to save lives and elevate the patient experience.
• Provides capacity for 11,300 more patients a year
• Allows teams to perform 30% more surgeries
• Expands the Emergency Department to include five zones including pediatrics and mental health
• Single patient rooms, with windows and natural light, are the new norm – even in the Emergency Department.
